Hi everybody
I just joined this forum and it is great. I am a South African (Indian) and have been offer a job with an oil and gas company. The job is located in the Dubai port of Jebel Ali Free Zone. The package offer to me is as follows : $ 2750 plus Living Allowance which comprise : COL - $637 Housing and Utilities - $1387 The total package is $4774 (per month) This is about ~ AED 17,500.00 There is also an 8% bonus and a $200 increase every 6 months for the first 3 years. Also there is 30 days vacation pa. and they provide airfare to return home once a year. Is this offer a good one. If I take it I will relocate alone. I know accomodation is expensive but I would like to rent a 1 bedroom flat/apartment. What will this cost me? Is there any accomodation near the Jebel Ali Free Zone so as to make my traffic problems as minimal as possible. I would also like to rent/purchase a car. Would I manage all of this with the salary offered? I know saving in Dubai is difficult but I know I can do it. I just want to be sure that I can survive there financially. I would really appreciate any help. Thank you in advance |

Hey Anon!
Welcome to this forum. ![]() I hope you will enjoy it as all the other members. It is now full of very useful information and many of the members spend a lot of their precious time giving good and sound advice to other forum members. Well, taking a first glance at your package, I can confidently say that it is really excellent to be honest. You will definitely be able to find good accommodation for around 65-70,000/dhs per year. There is accommodation close to Jebel Ali, but of course it is not that easy to find accommodation nowadays that is available. If you are planning on coming towards the summer, it is much easier to find accommodation and things are generally slightly cheaper. Also have a look in this section for more information on these kinds of issues. There are some really good and informative posts about this. And last but not least, GOOD LUCK in relocating and hopefully you will soon be on Dubai Soil! ![]() PS. Please read the forum rules before posting..... ![]() Any questions about this forum, please PM me! /MM

Hi Friends,

During Interview he has promised Branch Manager - Dubai, but now termed the designation as Lead Auditor-MSC Services. During Interview the employer promised me that he will give Medical Insurance, but he has not included in the Appointment letter saying it is mandatory and neednot be given in writing. Annual leave as per UAE Law, but will provide economy Air Ticket to Chennai once in Two Years (after completion of two years). An Employment contract shall be provided as per the UAE Regulations. You shall be giving undertaking for 3 years in the event if you severe the contract prior to 3 years, you have to reimburse to the company an amount equivalent spent sponsoring & Processing your visa and Training expenses. Working Hours : Saturday 9.00 – 6.00 PM; Thursday 9.00 – 2.00 PM. If you leave the company, you shall not join with the company, which does the similar type of business for the period of six months. He has promised me that he will get accomodation for 1200 AED/Month and told me the cost of food/month either in Saravana Bhavan or Sangeetha will not be more than 800 AED/Month. Kindly let me know the impacts on my career due to the above. If it is adverse in that case A friend of who is working in another company says, I must atleast get 30,000 AED / Month for my experience. Is it possible for me to come to Dubai and search for a job and what are the possibilities? I am a South Indian having B.Tech in Production engineering, certified Lead Auditor in QMS&EMS, SAP QM Consultant, having 32 years experience in Quality with experience in ISO Audits (worked in a MoodyICL, a Certification Body as Branch Manager). Hi Ven,
You can play hard to get and I'm sure they will change their offer. it seems like the company is really eager to get you as one of their employees so take the advantage to bargain some more to increase the wages. You can read this article to have some idea on how to play this game over bargaining. https://www.jobsindubai.com/career.a...leID=33&page=3 |
